Today is the day that students voted to elect the mayor of JA Biztown. In the interests of student privacy, I will not be posting the name but I will definitely congratulate him/her!
What the students also did was continue to work in their groups on the various tasks that each company has to undergo beforehand (promissory note, payroll, ads, etc.). So far, they are doing a great job!
In math, the students did multiplication by the area modeling method. I have a video below that shows how towards the latter part of the lesson. Or, you can see how by the image below.
For the in-class activity, we played multiplication bingo.
In science, the students took notes on the three types of rocks, the processes involved in their formation, and the rock cycle.
Here are the notes:
Lava - molten rock that reaches the surface.
Igneous - rocks that are formed from molten rock near or at volcanoes.
Cementation - the name for sediments being compacted over time, or compressed.
Erosion - the process in which wind or water pick up sediment and move it.
Deposition - the process in which sediment is dropped.
The notes for the entire unit are found on my Notes and Study Guides page.
