This is the last week of school in the year 2018, and this week we only had today and then tomorrow as school days. Tomorrow will basically be a fun day with no lessons planned since the class parties will be scheduled and The Polar Express will be playing throughout the day. I will still post a short entry but little more.
During the literacy part of the day, since we did not switch nor will we until we return in January, students either finished up their reading checkpoints or made corrections. Students who did not achieve mastery will just retake it in January since tomorrow's activities will not be conducive to testing.
Today was the long-awaited day of the the science fair. The science fair itself was held in the cafeteria for 4th grade from 2:00-300, with the set-up starting at 1:30. A good part of the morning was spent with the class presenting their science fair projects as I graded each one. About the grading: students were not graded on the presenting aspect. This was just to share with everyone what they attempted and most importantly, what they had learned.
The grading was scored pretty leniently since all I really needed was that all of the elements were covered along with it looking nice and presentable. If they had the key components (questions, research, hypothesis, data, conclusion, etc,) and it was presentable, the grade was a good one.
But, despite the above, I was VERY impressed by the projects that were submitted! My class did an outstanding job, especially considering how I didn't have a lot of time to go over it. Keep up the awesome work!!!
