We begin a new week and I continued with the Caring School Community curriculum with a focus on classroom jobs and the importance of responsibility in students.
In literacy, we are still covering the skill of referencing the text to explain details and to draw inferences. What this means is that students take explicit text (what the author wrote), combine it with personal knowledge, and then taking it one step further to "read between the lines."
We also began doing our rotation groups. Each group will have a different station each day, whether it is to read aloud independently, read to a peer, work on specific skills, or meet with me in a small group setting. This also applied to WIN time after recess with Ms. Eiger and I sharing some students. One group meets with me this week to focus on literacy while the other group meets with Ms. Eiger to focus on math skills. The next week, the groups switch.
This is also the time where I can have students work on practicing grammar, vocabulary, and cursive handwriting.
In science, the students met together in their groups. Today's task was the contract for each group. I did embed the presentation on the student Launch page. Students used that as a guide to make their group contract in which they agreed upon a set of values and tasks, and how to hold each other accountable. They used their Chromebooks to create a common Google Doc and then when finished, shared it with me.
