Today's focus was on looking for relevant vs irrelevant information in dual texts.  What is relevant?  Or, better yet:  what makes one detail relevant while another one isn't?  Simple!  The question is:  does this detail support the main idea?  Hint:  look at the title of the text.

Students also did the exit ticket.

Students then used the rest of the class period to work on their Wax Museum flip books that are due on Friday.

In science, students returned to their small groups to work on the assignment in which they answered three questions found in the the text:

1)  What are some properties of matter?

2)  How can you tell if something is matter?

3)  What are four characteristics of matter?

The one misconception that I noticed with questions 1 and 3 are that students wrote down solids, liquids, and gasses.  Those are PHASES of matter; something different in which it changes along with temperature changes.  In other words, adding or subtracting heat.
