In literacy, we did a cut-and-paste activity related to the writing prompt.  This will help the students with their prewriting and planning of their opinion pieces that were started yesterday.
In science, we started learning about static electricity and how it is the result of an excessive build-up of positive or negative energy, usually negative caused by removing electrons (which are negative) and transferring them to something such as a balloon. But first, they did a warm-up:

Then, students were paired up and given a balloon.  They took turns rubbing the balloon vigorously against their hair and attempted to stick it to a wall or other surface.

Lastly, they cut out tiny bits of paper and used static to attract the paper.
