10/25/2018

Since almost all of the students in both of my classes finished their reading test yesterday, I used the time to do two things at once:  reteach/review reading comprehension skills and to get a couple of social studies grades.   Yes, they were still reading passages BUT they were exclusively for social studies. We did two passages and the first one we did together - somewhat.  I guided them through it and of the four multiple choice questions, we together eliminated two wrong answer choices.  The 5th question was to answer a more open-ended question and then cite evidence from the actual text, which is a very good skill to master.  The second one the students did entirely on their own.

In science, we did a warm-up which allowed the students the use of their notes.  Then, instead of a reading passage I had them watch the Bill Nye the Science Guy episode on magnetism.
