Today we continued with geometry and focused on angles (acute, right, obtuse, and straight). We will be classifying triangles based on angles and sides next week as well as cover polygons.
Today's focus was on rays, lines, line segments - things like that in geometry. Tomorrow we will continue with the different types of angles.
As I had mentioned yesterday, we started the geometry unit by studying symmetry and lines of symmetry. Today was the second day of symmetry and tomorrow we will cover other aspects such as lines, points, parallel, etc.
Today begins the last week in March and the first of two four-day weeks that precede spring break. This Friday and next Friday are both teacher workdays which is why the weeks are shorter.
Also beginning this week, science will be on Thursdays and Fridays until after the End-of-Grade tests in order to maximize the time available to ensure mastery of math concepts.
In addition, we are also beginning our unit on geometry starting with symmetry and lines of symmetry. Wednesday and Thursday will be devoted to lines, line segments, parallel, etc.
Today was the day of the retest for some and the enrichment group for others. In the enrichment groups, we covered metric length, capacity, and weight. Next week we will enter the geometry unit with a section on symmetry and lines of symmetry in a figure.
