We end another week and another month as the school year marches onward. This was definitely a strange week due to missing some days with the inclement weather that we had. It took a while for the students to readjust after being out for what amounted to a five-day weekend. Monday, February 15th and Monday, April 25th are make-up days for the ones that we missed.
We did manage to begin our new unit: Earth in the Universe. It covers the Earth's axial rotation as the cause of night and day along with its axial 23.5° tilt as the reason for the seasons. After Thursday's quiz we will cover the Earth's relationship to its moon. This is a smaller unit with a faster turn-around time. But, we will continue to review.
Today we watched an episode of Bill Nye the Science Guy but unfortunately, I do not have the means of posting it here. Mine was on DVD.
After that, the students were given time to work on their posters. Due to the weather, I am extending the due dates of both the poster and the next set of letters (N,O,P,Q,R) to next Friday.
Also, the weekly parent email went out.
Finally, while it is still a work-in-progress, I have posted the syllabus for the Earth in the Universe unit. What will definitely be updated are the experiments. It is incomplete but I still wanted to have it posted since all of the needed information is on there.
