It's Friday! We had our first full week back and I am sure glad that our schedule was all normal. I have assigned homework for next week and I attached a copy with the weekly parent email. I sent out the first parent letter of the new year. The most important date on it is Thursday of next week in which the students take the ten question science quiz. In science, we did a brief experiment with light refraction in which a piece of a straw was inserted into a partially full transparent cup of water. I had them experiment with viewing it from different angles to see how the distorted image looks. I then spontaneously decided to do another experiment. I had the class hypothesize whether or not the temperature of water will affect how it refracts light. Then, I inserted on ten inch galvanized nail (more like a spike) of science into a beaker of cold water. After that, I inserted another ten inch nail into a beaker of boiling water. The outcome? No difference!
