We come to the end of the four day week following Memorial Day. Today was the day that the 5th grade took their science End-of-Grade tests. What was also interesting is that they took the tests online. This was the beginning of the transition to online testing for students and over the coming years more and more students will be doing this.
Today was also a significant day for me and my students. I'm certain that this information was already well-known but I made it official. Today I informed both of my classes that I will not be returning to Palisades Park in August. I have accepted a transfer to Winget Park where I will be running the school's STEM lab, very similar to what Ms. Cyr has done so well for the past three years. This was not an easy decision, especially when I think of all of the wonderful memories made here and the love and support given to me by the community. My reason is simple: teaching science is where my passion lies and this is a wonderful opportunity to focus on it. I also mentioned my moving to Winget Park in today's weekly parent email. Since next week will be the last week of school, the parent email that I sent out will be the last one since a week from today is the last day of school. During next week I will continue to change my website as I transition towards summer and to Winget Park. Some of the changes will be to remove no longer relevant pages, move others, and change titles. This blog will change from What We Did Today to What We Did This Week since I will be teaching kindergarten through 5th grade and seeing classes weekly instead of daily. I am planning on keeping the material that I posted in math and science available for anyone to use if they wish.
