I sent out my weekly parent letter to everyone on my distribution list. If for whatever reason you do not receive any emails from me, please contact me at donald.miller@cms.k12.nc.us and I will be sure to add you to the list. Ms. O'Hare would like all of you to fill out the survey from the district: http://www.advanc-ed.org/survey/public/6245670 Your feedback will be very helpful to us. Now to science: We continued with static electricity after doing the warm-up: ![]()
We then did an experiment using a comb and tiny pieces of tissue. Each student was given a comb to take home (for sanitary reasons) after the experiment. The object was to tear the tissue up into tiny pieces and then after combing one's hair, the comb is placed near the pieces. If it is done right, the pieces should be attracted to the comb. We also watched an old episode of Bill Nye the Science Guy to reinforce static electricity. On Monday we will do one more experiment (using static electricity to separate salt and pepper) and Tuesday will have the test. Please have your child do the practice test as many times as needed.
Lastly, we continued with JA Biztown and studied endorsing checks and making deposits with deposit slips. On Monday we will be writing checks and reconciling them.
