We begin a new week and a full week at that! I want to remind everyone that tomorrow is a regular school day to make up for the two snow days a few weeks ago. Also, today is the end of the second quarter and the first half of the school year.
In math, we did one more day of review, especially with converting mixed numbers to improper fractions and improper fractions to mixed numbers. In block 2, I went over ordering fractions in both ascending and descending order. I also went over using division to convert them into decimals, then order by comparing the values of each decimal. For example, 1/2 is one divided by two to get 0.5. 1/3 is one divided by three to get 0.33. Since 0.5 is greater than 0.3, 1/2 is greater than 1/3. I did this because the tasks involved ordering three or four fractions instead of two. If it was just two, use cross multiplication. ![]()

In science, we began the Earth in the Universe Unit. Since this is the beginning, we watched an episode of Bill Nye the Science Guy. As the video played, the students answered questions in a ten-question video quiz. This grade will be the first science grade for the 3rd quarter.
