We begin a new day in a new week in a new season. For today is the spring equinox, when the Earth gets equal amounts of daylight and darkness. In the southern hemisphere, today is the first day of autumn. For us, the days will gradually get longer until Wednesday, June 21st. This will mark both the first day of summer and the longest day of the year - the summer solstice! Then, the days get gradually shorter and the cycle continues.
Today was the big math common assessment. Just like last Thursday with literacy, most students remained in their homerooms and were given about 3-4 hours to complete the test. It is meant to be just the like End-of-Grade tests to give students the opportunity to not only show what they know, but to build endurance. Since this is a testing day, there was no science. Tomorrow we will begin the last major unit of the school year: ecosystems.
