Tomorrow is the big test for the unit on Matter: Properties and Change. As I had mentioned in Friday's email there will be an online practice this evening using Socrative. I also sent out an email this afternoon detailing the information needed to access the practice test. As I had mentioned, this is not required but it is available to those who are able to do it. It will go live at 5:30 and stay up until 8:30. To access it, go to www.socrative.com, click "Student Login", and type in 514034 for my room number. Once in, please make sure that your child enters his/her first AND last name. Then, your child simply takes the practice test. With Socrative, the student will get immediate feedback. At this point, I have reviewed the material for weeks so by now either the student knows the content or doesn't. Students who score less than 80% will get another review on Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday they will have the opportunity to retake the test and receive a maximum score of 80. Students who do show mastery will get an enrichment activity for those three days (the reviews and the retest). If you need another copy of the study guide, here it is: ![]()
To review one last time (at least here in the classroom), I had the students do a reading activity about the rock cycle and answer questions. It is straight-up reading comprehension, which will help them on tests, as well as a review of the content.
In social studies, I went over the state symbols and then gave them a book assignment since we are moving into the cultures of North Carolina. Once that was explained, I had the students take home their binders. From this point, students will either work on the project at home or; if the complete something here they will need to take it home and place it in their binders. It is the student's responsibility to not only complete the work but to keep track of and organize the binder.
