We began a very busy week that lies ahead of us.  Tomorrow is Grateful for Grandparents, Wednesday is the first of four Early Release Days, Thursday is Curriculum Night, and Friday is the math common assessment.

In literacy, we began Lesson 3 in Caesar's English with a new set of roots and words.  The test will not be until next week though that is tentative.  I do know that there will not be a quiz on Friday.

In math, we are focusing on prime and composite numbers, greatest common factor, and least common multiple.  The big common assessment is this Friday so I will be focusing on preparation and final review.

Today was supposed to be the beginning of social studies.  Since the quiz took up a lot of time, we will start tomorrow.  We are starting off with doing the lessons on JA Biztown in preparation for the field trip next month.  The first lesson will be more about an introduction, passing out the workbooks, etc.

In science, we began the second unit of the year which is Matter:  Properties and Change.  This unit covers a lot of material, from the composition of matter and its physical properties to rocks and minerals  - classification, formation and change.  The unit test on that will not be until sometime in November, traditionally the week before Thanksgiving Break.

We started out by watching an episode of Bill Nye the Science Guy for a great introduction.
