Today we were supposed to have taken the quiz on the lunar phases and the moon's relationship with the Earth. Unfortunately, the website hosting the STEMscope assessment was down so no one could take it. So we will try tomorrow. If it is still down then I will have printed copies and the students will do it the traditional way.
Also, our school (and a lot of the surrounding area from what I hear) lost power around 12:15. While it was somewhat disruptive, the emergency power was enough to allow us to operate on a regular schedule. Interestingly enough, our WiFi was never affected so that enabled me to type this using my laptop. This power failure was ironic since I sent out a parent email via Google Forms with an Emergency Early Dismissal Form. You can also access it here if for whatever reason you do not have the email. The reason for it is because there is a possibility of snow on Monday afternoon starting after 3:00. Of course, being that this is Charlotte, a lot can change and it is likely that it will be a nonevent or the snow will be much less than forecast. However, given that the snow (providing it is still coming - things change) will hit late in the day, CMS may well opt to call for early dismissal. I remember that happening twice two years ago and I recall the mad scramble to contact parents. So, if you can I would really appreciate you filling out the form. As I stated, it might well be a nonevent but I would rather err on the side of caution, especially when it comes to the well being of my students.
