We are moving right along with both JA Biztown and Caesar's English. Once the field trip is behind us, I will focus again on reading comprehension skills, especially Jacob's Ladder.
In math, we transitioned from multiplication to long division. I reviewed area modelling multiplication and after that, did a lesson on long division. Each student was given a template that helps them learn long division. This too is one of my Temporary Templates since students will gradually stop using it once they achieve mastery of that particular skill. All of my templates are available for downloading at this page: http://www.millersclass.com/downloads.htmlI will be adding more as the year progresses. As for multiplication, we will still review it, but students will now have the option of using any method that they like. I will do a mini-lesson tomorrow on the Japanese method just to expose them to something different yet interesting in its approach.
In science, the students used STEMscopes to do the Reading Science activity. This short passage reinforced their notes from yesterday on the three types of rocks, how they form, and how they undergo change over time. The unit test will be on Wednesday, the 16th and we will be reviewing the entire unit each day.
