We are in Day 2 of our writing unit in literacy with a study of personal narratives. We are still on the Brainstorming part of the writer's process. While yesterday was spent on students coming up with ideas for their story, this one focused on developing the character of the story. We also touched on dialogue and I think it will be best if I do a mini lesson on the proper way to do dialogue in terms of punctuation and mechanics. In math, we reviewed place value. I did notice that one question type stumped the majority of the class so I spent some time addressing it. See below..... The correct answer is C. By converting each clue to standard form (4 hundreds = 400) and then adding them all together, answer choice C is the only one with the sum of 587.
Afterwards, the students got on their Chromebooks and were introduced to a site called Socrative. It had 15 questions that the student had to answer (at their own pace) and the teacher version gives me real time feedback. In science, the students took some additional notes. A downloadable copy is available on my Notes and Study Guides page. We also reviewed the notes from yesterday and did a brief activity for a grade.
