Today we resumed a normal schedule now that JA Biztown is over and counted as a success. This is also the first day back where students are getting used to the reality of a new teacher being added to the 4th grade team. Ms. Carpenter will be my partner where she will assume the literacy and social studies instruction. While a few of my students will be a part of her homeroom, I am not losing any students. In fact, I am gaining a whole bunch since her homeroom is made up of students from my class and four others.
How will this change things for the students? The daily schedule will change to reflect their changing classes. Lunch times will change slightly to make sure that the new class will be able to go to the cafeteria around the same time as the rest of the 4th grade. My revised schedule is posted here: http://www.millersclass.com/weekly-schedule.html
There will be a meet and greet session on Thursday morning from 8:45 to 9:45 where parents will get to meet Ms. Carpenter and myself too. We will explain how our days are going to be set up and what to expect.
In literacy, we continued with Caesar's English and going over reading comprehension skills. I have two more days as a literacy teacher after this so I want to make the most of it. In math, our focus is now on using multiplication and division skills to solve problems, some simple and some multi-step. ![]()

Here is the video narration of today's lesson where I go over the warm-ups, the exit ticket, and the review for today.
In science, we reviewed and prepared for the unit test for Matter: Properties and Change. Then, we played Kahoot! using the Chromebooks, which is definitely more challenging than with a mobile device but still doable.
