Quick reminder: the unit test is exactly two weeks from today. While I will continue to review and reinforce the material at my end, it is still the responsibility of the student to study and learn. Everything has been covered so now it is simply a matter of making sure that it all has been mastered.
I had the students finish up with their mini-posters on one of the types of rocks (igneous, metamorphic, sedimentary).
Today's activity was to create a flip book (see graphic below for how it was made) on the three processes associated with the formation of sedimentary rocks: weathering, erosion, and deposition. I left out compacting/cementation since I wanted to focus on how sediment is made and transferred.
Before moving into social studies, we did a mini lesson on antonyms, synonyms, and analogies.
In social studies we continued with the map exercise by coloring in specific places. For example, the first map (unfortunately I do not have a digital copy of) was a map of the continents. Since we live in North America, the students shaded in North America. The next map was of North America in which the USA was shaded in....and so on.......
Here are examples of what the students colored in. These are not exact but close enough......
