Since the second math common assessment was administered today, there are no warm-ups or lessons posted.

The math common assessment consisted of 30 questions and students were encouraged to do the following:
  • Read each problem and answer choice carefully
  • Take your time in solving the problems
  • Recheck the answers by doing the inverse operation.  In other words, the reverse is what is necessary.  For example, if the problem requires addition, subtract one of the numbers from the sum.  If this was done correctly, the answer should be the other number.
  • Show your work!

To ensure that students took their time, I would not allow them to turn in their tests until at least 45 minutes into the class period.

Overall, I am very happy with the performance on the tests.  I again had a LOT of students who scored a 90% or above so my enrichment class will be pretty crowded tomorrow and Thursday.  I will be doing long division with two-digit divisors; for example:  3,456 ÷ 13.

We did not get to science since many students took up most of the time allotted in the math/science block, I decided to do notes tomorrow.  I thought it best to allow them the maximum time for the math test.
