We are at the half-way mark of our short week that follows Labor Day. Next week will be different in the sense that Mr. McDonald will be working with me and Ms. Averette's groups will be in full swing.
In literacy, we have begun our writing unit with the focus being personal narratives. Today's lesson was simply a brainstorming session in which the class thought about topics to write about - nothing more.
I also had the class go online to do a practice reading comprehension activity. I am utilizing the Chromebooks a lot since I can save a lot of paper as well as copies.
In math, we moved on to comparing numbers up to seven digits using the following symbols: < > =
For science, it was a day where students took notes on the key terms and concepts for the Forces and Motion unit:
Attract - a force that pulls together
Repel - a force that pushes apart
Force - a push or a pull on an object
Polarity - having opposite charges or poles. There are two poles in magnetism: north and south. Earth has two magnetic poles: north and south
Lastly, each student was given a pink-colored half sheet of paper to take home. This concerns the Lego League that is forming and that there is a parent meeting on Tuesday, September 13th at 5:30 pm in the media center.
