In math, I did a review of some concepts that were going to be on the quiz and then left them on the board for students to reference. I did a long division problem with a double digit divisor, a 3x2 multiplication problem, and one that asked about how a quotient would change if divided by different powers of ten.
Then, the quiz was administered. It had only 8 questions and the vast majority did pretty well - well enough for us to move on.
Social studies was taken up by the Book Fair.

There is a motive behind actions and determining the motive requires some higher level thinking skills such as inference.
