We focused again on decimal comparisons since there were students who needed more instructional support. There was enough feedback at the end of yesterday's lesson to indicate that one more day was necessary. By the end though, I am pretty confident that we are ready to move on to multiplication of 2-3 digit numbers.
In science, we reviewed the notes and then did an activity (experiment) to answer two questions:
1. What do you think will happen if you add water to each cup containing the dry materials?"
2. How can a mixture be separated?
There were three dry materials to work with today: gravel, salt, and diatomaceous earth.
The task was to try to separate the mixtures by first pouring them through a mesh screen and then a coffee filter.
