We began our new schedule today with the rotations and moving from one teacher to the next. With my homeroom class, it was the normal schedule and morning routine, at least for math. We began the decimal unit with them doing very well on the place value, determining the value of an underlined digit, and converting from word to standard (number) and standard to word form. As far as value is concerned, they had to show two answers. For example, take 67.89. The 8 is underlined so the actual value of the 8 needs to be expressed in both decimal form AND in fraction form. Why? Because it is to the right of the decimal, it is less than one. The 8 is in the tenths place so its value is 8/10 or 0.8. We did not have science due to the class pictures for my homeroom. For Ms. Fowler's class, it was an introduction and getting-to-know-you day, almost like the first day of school all over again. I went over expectations and procedures and learning about one another. After lunch and recess we did the math lesson. Below are the downloadable and printable versions of the independent student work that was done online.
