What We Did Today

Thursday, September 26th, 2019

9/26/2019

We did another lesson on decimal place value since not everyone had a complete understanding of it.  This was also a good review for those who did master it since they were encouraged to show their work in other ways.

Students did a Nearpod lesson which had a lot more examples and practices.  By the end of the lesson, my class definitely had it down and are now ready for exponents and using decimals in operations.
In social studies, students were assigned a project that is due on October 24.  The information is in much more detail on the Google Classroom page.
In reading, we did a lesson on subject vs theme.  The subject is a broad topic that the story is about while the theme is the "big idea", often a lesson, moral, or something that the author really wants to emphasize with the reader.  Students read two poems and came up with their interpretations of their subjects.
