I am back after being out due to illness. It was not an enjoyable experience at all, to say the least! But, while I am not yet at 100%, I was well enough to return to my teaching duties.
In math, we started with reviewing long division. I started out simple with only a one digit divisor and towards the end of the lesson, moved to two digits. This was not a new concept to the class though there was one problem where a lot of them got stuck: when there is a zero in the quotient (answer). However, it didn't take long for most to master it. Tomorrow we will continue with it and I will see about decimals instead of remainders.
In science, the students answered some questions based on last week's experiment. That one involved taking a salt water mixture and separating the salt (solid) from the liquid through the process of evaporation. It did take almost a week but the result was noticeable.
In literacy, we did a writing lesson and students were introduced to an essay that they will be writing. This essay is on the Google Classroom and they will be guided through this process. Today was the introduction and all they should have accomplished was to decide which theme they felt was most appropriate for themselves and to maybe begin the outline. It will ultimately consist of four paragraphs but they will be guided step-by-step throughout this process.
