We have decided to administer the math pre-test on Sunday so today was more of the four quadrant ordered pairs and coordinates. Tomorrow will be the final day of this so we will still use the grids, but with something on a different level. Students will still use what they have been taught, but taking it another step with some simple transformations.
Below is the activity they did, which actually took up a considerable amount of time in class. When finished, they played Battleship with a partner though only a few managed to get to that point.
Social studies had a discussion about refugees. Students were assigned a person's story to read over. The purpose of this was to give this a more personal and human connection. It is one thing to read about it or see it on TV, but to actually read a firsthand account brings the reader to a greater sense of empathy with the person.
Literacy was a continuation of yesterday with the exception of the survey that was already done.
